Bye Bye Burrito

We're saying good-bye to the swaddle, the baby burrito, the sleeping sushi (I just made that one up), or whatever else you want to call it. Josie will no longer sleep like a tiny torpedo. Apparently I could go on and on with nicknames for the concept of wrapping her up tightly in a blanket when she sleeps. And cracking myself up in the process of posting while Josie watches Baby Einstein. She's growing up. I put her in a sleep sack for her nap the other day, which made her look and seem so much more like a toddler instead of a baby. If you've made this type of transition, you know exactly what I'm talking about. I was a bit sad to see her so grown up as she was sleeping in her crib. I might as well have been dropping her off at the college dorm. Which got me thinking about that dreaded day. I wonder if Josie will let me home school her instead of going off to college...

Our Big Girl

We celebrated Josie's 4 month birthday today. But before the party started, we had to visit the pediatrican for her well baby appointment. She's clocking in at the 75th percentile, weighing 15 pounds and reaching nearly 25 inches long. Our girl is growing...

So the party began once daddy got home from work. I love Josie's expression in this picture. She's saying, "You got a cupcake? For little ole me?

But the real party took place later that night in her nursery...

We danced to Lady Gaga, now that I know who she is. Todd and I are so out of touch with pop culture. Anyway, Josie was so darn cute as we danced around her nursery. I nearly forgot how she was a stinker last night and had us up every 15 minutes between the hours of ten and six. :-)

Cousins

Cousin Claire was born almost four weeks before Josie. Their due dates were about two weeks a part, but Claire came a week early and Josie took her sweet time and came a week late. This first picture was taken of the girls in December and the second one is from January.

I imagine the girls always hugging each other in pictures as they get older because of course, they will be the best of friends (along with Emri, Ava, Luke, Max and Miles!). But for now, we will have to settle for pictures where gravity is in charge of these girls either leaning away from each other or, like the picture below, falling into each other. Everybody loves a picture of a smiling baby, but...you have to appreciate the "serious" looks too!
